Diesel Fall winter 2005 ad campaignSexploitation: 90%
Creativity: 70%

As much as I like Diesel’s Spring-Summer 2005 ad campaign, I’m ambivalent about Fall Winter 2005 collection advertisements. The images are too sexploitative, more than every other Diesel ad, but I like them in some other way. The stopwatch and pressure of the girl’s fingers in the picture on the left is a big plus for creative direction. Also, three other picture below, which resemble group sex, play well with your imagination.

The title of this campaign is “A guide to the individual pursuit of hedonistic pleasure” which I like it, but advertisers usually use simpler titles.

The photographs are taken by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. You can find more information about Mert and Marcus in their wikipedia entry here.

Diesel Spring Summer 2005 AdsSexploitation: 20%
Intelligence: 80%

The Spring Summer 2005 ad campaign for Diesel, is the best I’ve ever seen from the Italian clothing company and surprisingly, it’s not sex-saturated. I’m not sure how much digital artwork has been applied to these images but I guess they’re original photographs with certain filters.

Elaine Constantine, the photographer of these images has created a visually appealing atmosphere which is present in her other works too. You can check other works by Elaine here.

I’m really curious to know how Marcel-Paris or Diesel has come up with this brilliant idea. Every ad in this campaign contains thoughtful elements and it’s neatly designed.

Anyway, these ads are more fashion ads than a global warming awareness campaign (No, it’s not “global warNing”!).

Do you have any ideas about this ad or my ratings? Please comment on this post.
