Cannes Lions Winner: Havaianas AdCreativity:75%
Sexploitation: 30%

Besides very good art direction, I like the messages written in each of these ads. This campaign won a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions advertising festival.

Do you have any opinion about the ratings above? Comment on!

Straps 5 millimeters thinner. Great news for your admirers: you’ll be 5 millimeters more naked.

If you like delicate and feminine things, you deserve a sandal like this. If you don’t, you deserve to be hit with a sandal like this.

Havaianas make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Problem: they can make you more attractive to your own sex too.

Ideal for seduction: they’re very beautiful. Ideal for post-seduction: they’re very easy to take off.

If he praises your eyes, he’s thinking about your breasts. If he praises your smile, he’s thinking about your breasts. If he praises your Havaianas, either the guys has a foot fetish or he’s thinking about your breasts.

We made the size of the straps considerably smaller. If it worked with bikinis, it’ll work with sandals.

Pablo Picasso’s Guernica

Sony’s PS2 ad and to a lesser extent a photo from Freddy’s Human Machine campaign, remind me of Pablo Picasso’s Guernica painting. What do you think?

About Dolce and Gabanna Controversial Ad

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

D&G so-called “Fantasy Rape” AdCreativity:25%
Sexploitation:
80%
Intelligence
: 75%
Rebel: 85%

This is the so-called gang-rape ad by D&G that following protests in Spain, D&G pulled the ad from Italian publications. Advertising Self-Discipline Institute (IAP) said in a statement that the ad “offended the dignity of the woman, in the sense that the feminine figure is shown in a degrading manner. The woman has an alienated expression, with an absent look.”

Is it much different from other sex exploitation ads? I don’t think so. I agree that the woman is in a “passive and helpless position” as stated by the IAP, but I can’t agree that it’s “degrading to women”. At most, IAP can say it’s degrading to the woman in the picture!

I searched the web for IAP, but I found no website. How come an organization with a big name such as this doesn’t have an official website?

Anyway, I don’t think the ad is much creative. No new element is used but D&G violent theme. It’s indeed Sexploitative and Rebel. And it’s intelligent in the sense that although it’s banned from media, D&G is the winner.
